Jeffrey Smalley Architect, founded in 1992, develops building solutions in collaborative partnership with the clients we serve. Successful architectural environments blend client's needs with specific circumstances of site, program and economics.  Using clear visual, written and oral communications, issues are addressed and resolved through expressive use of materials and details with a commitment to straightforward solutions.

Design begins with respect for the particular qualities of individual sites, their light, topography, materials and local character.  These qualities are points of departure that inform and shape unique places.  Rather than impose arbitrary styles, an open and flexible attitude assists in developing projects that are both livable and memorable.

Prior to establishing his firm, Jeffrey Smalley apprenticed with A. Quincy Jones and after graduation spent seven years as a designer and project architect with architectural firms in Boston and Los Angeles. His responsibilities included design and construction of diverse projects ranging from residences and libraries to hotels and medical facilities.  Over the past three decades the office has completed new homes, remodels, additions and commercial work throughout Los Angeles, Beverly Hills, Santa Monica and Cape Town, South Africa.
